next life

what happens when we die?

as a Christian, i believe there's heaven. and hell.
but is there an in-between? a transit lounge between heaven and earth?
each of us clutching our boarding cards and passports, rushing for our flights,
looking for our designated gates to the Destination X.

if there's a destination, are we going to take a plane there?
if yes, then who pilots it?
can we choose to linger at transit longer than others?
coz we simply do not want to leave where we came from,
reluctant to discover what lies ahead.

but yes, i believe that there's a transit lounge.
there'll be public announcement services urging us to arrive at Gate Y on time.
5 mins before depature, cabin crews please close cabin door.
relax in your spacious business class seat, anticipating a new lease of 'life'.

why the word 'life'?
'life' need not mean the existence in this mortal world.
'life' doesn't end at death. in fact, death is just the beginning of 'life'.
coz only death brings us to eternanity. that is, eternal life.
this mortal existence, is just us walking around with a body.
when we die, our souls leave this mortal shell.
hence, even after death, life goes on. at a different level.
this mortal existence, is just to refine and strengthen us, to help us grow.
in preparation of life forever.

it is in transit lounge would you then reunite with family, relatives and friends departed.
all awaiting for ONE mega-spaceship. to ONE place. ------ Heaven, Abode of Our Lord.
i do not fear death, for i now it is where i will see my parents and my pet.
it is where i will reunite with fellow Christians and friends.
together, we will embark on a journey towards eterinity.

but not everyone gets to go to Heaven.
not everyone gets to board the mega-spaceship. yes, like the one in StarTrek!
to board, you'll be judged. by God himself.
it is Him who issues you the boarding pass.
what will you say, when He ask "how have you made Earth a better place?"

nuclear waste.
chemical - petroleum pollution.
child abuse. economic exploitation.
iraq invasion.

i wonder how many people will reach Destination X....

i'm glad to be a girl.
coz i can specify my birthday present.
it's a hassle to buy gifts for guys.
never know what they want, never know what they need.
things they desire often out of our reach =)
eg: new Hi-Fi system. new car. new lap top. new Apple IPod Mini. etc etc.
not all guys like clothes, shoes, watches and cologne...

most guys are plain boring geeks / nerds / bengs.
no elegance, no refined taste.

girls? easy!
a new top. new skincare. new cosmetics. new shoes. new perfume. new taitai bag.
never buy her a cooking pan / pot, kitchen appliance, sewing kit.
even a self-help book is way better!
they'll also love new chic sleek cell phone, new MP3 player, cute silver gizmos.
but never a new tv set, new Hi-Fi, new *whatever mammoth size electronic appliance*.

look at poor Choon....
for last 2 years, due to some unfortunate circumstances...
we bought for him bath shower gel for every birthday!
haha! so hilarious! luckily once, we managed to refund it and got him a new t-shirt.
tis year, due to monetary contraints, we bought him a food hamper.
coz he's in NS, we got him all the ready-to-eat packaged food.
Maggi instant porridge, instant noodles, tuna-cracker snack, hot chocolate sachets...
n a homebaked Orange-Chocolate cake. with cream cheese frostings!
